Making me think, April 2008

[edit] A new idea (for me)
Inspired by some videos I had been watching, I decided to begin a kind of weblog entry showing the chain of videos I had watched.
This stream of consciousness surfing began with my watching some videos of Malcolm X and then Martin Luther King.
[edit] Malcolm X
(and many many more)
Then I detoured to watch religion and belief, prompted partly by the whole Malcolm X Muslim thing.
I took a detour to watch some famous speeches because of the political interests.
Then I ended up watching some general religious opinions, which YouTube is full of. That's when I bumped into Pat.
If you're interested in some more Malcolm X, check out this series that I bumped into much later:
- Malcolm X Rare Canadian CBC TV Show 1965 Part 2
- part one
[edit] Pat Condell
Pat Condell is a comedian who has created a great series of videos.
It's unfortunate that Pat's videos get angrier as time progresses, but if you look around at his peers this is a common trend. Don't like it? Read through the comments. There are a lot, and I mean a *lot* of astoundingly stupid comments on YouTube videos. This chain of them happens to collect some of the best of the worst.
[edit] God Is Imaginary
Ok, I'm going to admit that I clicked this video for the same reason that I clicked on Cocasseries' promoted video. Because she's beautiful. But I'm posting it here because it's very well-spoken and led me into an interesting series of videos.
It's really unfortunate that this video is unique in her line.
[edit] Cocasseries
http://www.youtube.com/user/Cocasseries
Her videos are mostly French, because she's self-conscious, but her videos are really well done.
And yes, she did remind me of Jennifer Love Hewitt. =)
[edit] That's so GAY!
http://www.youtube.com/user/paytotheorderofofof2
I bumped into this girl because she was subscribed-to by Cocasseries. For similar reasons to the above click, I clicked her. Gorgeous, and smart. This particular one is notable.
I really wish she made other videos of this calibre.
Gayness led me to..
[edit] Transgender voice
candiFLA posts an educational and entertaining video on the transgender voice.
This led me to...
[edit] CalperniaAddams
Very smart and very funny. Ignore the tits.. I mean breasts.
I went down this path for a while, but nothing seemed to top Calpernia's video.
Now back to the main train of thought..
[edit] The Blasphemy Challenge
It started with Pat Condell's video:
If you still haven't watched Pat's other videos, go and do it. They're great.
I went back to watch this video again and I realized that it was one of many responses to this video from rationalresponders.com:

- http://www.thegodmovie.com/ (wikipedia)
[edit] God is Imaginary
They're all very good videos, but here are a few highlights:
Check out their other videos or their websites.

[edit] TheAmazingAtheist
I liked him, but he seemed to slide way downhill.
He has a LOT of other videos.
[edit] Tana Scheel
Later on when I came back to find some example videos for TheAmazingAtheist he recommended Tana
It's a response to this vid:
(The song is Nine Inch Nails - Burn)

I'll have to check her out sometimes.
[edit] Edward Current
This is amazing sature.
Edward is very good with his physical expression too:
[edit] The Big Debate! Religion in School!
A brief clip about "islam getting owned", which was a brief clip from a series, had me bumped into a wonderfully entertaining series of videos. It amounts to exactly nothing because it draws no conclusions, but I think that it's still interesting to watch.
Remember, don't judge anything one way or another from the way one of their "representatives" is like or what they say.
[edit] Beyond Good and Evil
I really loved the expression and writing of this video. It made me think. In fact, this video is why this entire page came to exist. I researched MediaWiki video-embedding to make this page and got everything working very easily.
I've had enough fun doing this that I'll begin noting more of my stream of consciousness surfing in the future.
I happened upon this other video which is by the same author. I can't imagine this being very effective towards kids, but it's still interesting to me.
I don't care for anything else they have produced, not because of some aversion to their beliefs but because of their quality/content.

This also had me think more about the idea of "Personal Reality".
[edit] Proselytization and Religious Freedom
HinduismTodayVideos on YouTube has some interesting videos. Here are a couple:
