Introduction

In an effort to note and work out some of my more obscure inner-conflicts, I'll write on a topic which plagues me. I take notes on the things I've experienced, the things I've learned, my opinions and desires. Almost every event, be it a class or a conference, will push me to think and later write. These writings are a peek into that internal dialogue. As I have the time and inspiration, I will continue to update these items even after their initial creation, as this webspace allows me to take notes and write as I may, and to mull over them at my own pace. Some of these items may seem rant-like, so please keep in mind that they are personal.

Template

At the top of every interpretation/musing page is Template:Sy's Systema:

While there may be benefits to onlookers, those who are either new or old to Martial Arts or Systema, this is a personal perspective. Because of this, it is Dangerous to assume much of anything. Found herein is merely perspective and musing, not fact or advice, and may not accurately reflect actual events or popular opinion.
See Systema Interpretations and Sy's Systema Interpretations for more info.

Reasonings

Do: backport this into my main writing topic?

So if none of this is written in an official capacity, why is it written at all? Simply put, Zuihitsu-Do. I write for writing itself, as a means to fulfill an unpronounceable drive, a passion, my muse.

Secondary to that is the idea that the recording of my musings (found here) could prove to be invaluable for me, for a number of reasons.

The obvious reason is that these are permanent records where my memory is most certainly not. Because of this, things can be revisited and re-explained.

At various unscheduled times, I may find myself re-reading older notes. I might be inspired to re-describe, comment on or otherwise add to existing entries.

The act of writing itself is quite different from speaking or even quietly musing to onesself. The tone and flow of type has a certain something. Writing can be a productive supplement to one's ponderings.

Oh, and sure I suppose that there might accidentally be someone out there in the world who might be pleasantly amused in the reading of some small part of a text here. =)

Why I don't date my work

In the Wiki tradition, all pages are re-editable. I dislike the idea of a fixed opinion or page. I like the ability to write and re-write as I see fit and as my mood dictates. I do not write static "articles" and let them sit to collect dust.. they are a part of a larger network of ideas.

Besides, the revisions of a page are kept by MediaWiki.

"But how do I know if you make changes?" you may ask. If the changes are significant, they will be noted on this page. You could also make a user, and watchlist the pages you're interested in. Otherwise you'll have to keep an eye on my weblog entries.

Particular events get dated, but edits to those pages aren't. Revisions are kept automatically by MediaWiki. I don't much care about all the behind the scenes stuff.. I would just rather write.
